No longer a baby - and please vote...

Yeah I know at 18 months, he is still a baby - but he had his first real hair cut today, and he looks like a little big boy, and not my baby. These aren't the best pictures, but he is sick, and cranky and not really willing to take pictures for me.

Here is my baby boy.

Sorry its so small, but here he is getting ready to be buckled in the car seat, looking like a little big boy.

Andre wants me to let him do something, and I am having a hard time allowing him to do what it is that he wants to do. So we made a bet, and its up to you all to see who wins the bet. Here are two pictures of Andre. One before his haircut, and one after his haircut. Which one do you think looks better - with his hair shorter or with his hair longer. (And usually when I get his hair cut, it is alot shorter - as in skin on the sides, and almost skin on the top - but because he has had it long for so long, this was a huge shock to him, so I let him keep it longer).

Depending on what the comments say, that will determine what Andre will be allowed to do. And I know that I am being vague, but that is because I don't want to throw the voting either way. I will take comments until Midnight Sunday night (EST) and post the results as well as who won the bet, and what that person has won. (Am I making sense here??)

Short Hair Andre

I will say though that I think he looks so handsome with his hair short. I mean he looks nice either way, but I love it when his hair is short - he looks a little less Farrah Faucet-ish - you know with the feathered hair ;P

Oh - and did you notice? What you ask. Did you notice that little shadow the is under Andre's lip - but above his mouth. Thats right, its a mustache. And it is about stinkin time. I mean after all, he is 13 (and almost a half) you know. Whats that you say, you didn't see anything there - well thats because he has shaved it off. Yes you all, Andre now has mustache hair (albeit maybe only 4 peices of fuzz, but still, its there) so he must shave. And not only must he shave, he must do it EVERY MORNING, becuase if he doesn't his upper lip is prickly. This according to one of the girls at his school. I do need to ask how she knows if his upper lip is prickly or not though.

Anyways, leave me a comment letting me know which way you vote - Andre long hair, or Andre short hair, and help us settle our dispute.

(*vote for short hair Andre, vote for short hair Andre*)

I like his hair long, but the short hair is cute. Let me ask my husband I am undecided.....Hubby says short. So I will agree. Do our two votes count?

Nothing shocks me anymore... said...

AW let him leave it long.. When he gets hot and uncomfortable then he will go short. NOW that said th erule changes if he bring in lice or anything gross like that!

I like it long, but's his hair, let him do what he wants with it. He is just trying to assert his independence. Believe me,you will have more important things to disagree on as he gets older.

I vote to let him do what he wants for 1 week. If he still likes it after 1 week stretch it to a month, and after 1 month if mom still doesnt like it yet, then do moms choice hair cut, but this way you both win and you give both a try.

I like it long, but maybe it could be just a tad shorter so it's a bit more managable?

*I* personally like it short but agree with letting him do what he wants, like a pp said he will get hot and want it gone in just a few short weeks.

Long hair, he is handsome both ways, but I like the way he looks before the haircut.

Short short! I have a hair phobia so perhaps my opinion is useless, I don't like long hair on anyone! (Yes, I am weird, but to me, hair is just dead stuff hanging outside of your body and therefore needs to be kept short so you don't have to touch said dead stuff. All those shampoo commercials always make me a bit nauseous, I don't care how shiny and healthy it is, it's still dead stuff!). Ok, rant over. I've got issues. :)

So, the psycho part of me says SHORT, but the mommy part of me says "Let him do what he likes". :)

I personally like it SHORT. He has a nice full head of hair - perhaps if long, it would like nice a bit spiked up? Anyway, I vote for SHORT.

I like it long. But his long is short in our family. My 14yo has hair to the middle of his back.

In case we don't hear from you in a while, I just wanted to say best wishes on your trip back to Honduras!

I like the long hair. It is the in style for boys his age now-a-days. My nephew went to go get his haircut the other day and came back and I was like oh,I thought you were going to get a haircut today....to which I was retorted "Aunt Mandy I did get my haircut you are just so old you don't know what's cool anymore." Maybe he is just being trendy. I like short hair on my nephews,too....but I have left them alone since then.

Long, just with a better style. And with the fuzz on the upper lip. Definitely.

Hi guys!

Sorry I've been so long in doing an update about Jen and the kids! It's been quite and adjustment have my house SO empty and not having Andre here...miss that youngin! They are all doing fine...oops let me change that, today she said Levi, Isa and Mickey are running temperatures, with runny noses, so who knows! They were fine when I left on 5-15-09. They did not have any issues with the earthquake that happened on the 28th of May...only raddled some dishes...Andre said one of the pans fell off of the shelf. Life in Honduras is very different than life in the US...we are very spoiled here with all our modern conviences....like hot water, A/C, paved roads, even TRAFFIC lights...I did not see ONE the whole time I was there in Tocoa or in La Cebia...maybe I just missed them....no speed limmit signs...not many lane divider lines, everyone just drives however they want at whatever speed they want. It's amazing no is killed very few seconds, but they do well...bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, trucks and I even saw 2 cars...mostly trucks. It is beautiful, lots of lush green mountains everywhere! Gieco's, very LARGE Roaches, one of which was trying to carry off the back of a cell phone all by itself.....checkens that act as vaccumms...they eat the rice, etc that is spilled on the floor...roosters that don't know what time to crow...they think it's o.k. to do so at 11 PM 2 aM, 4 AM and 2 PM....its was fun and I'm ready to do it again, only I need to learn the language...that is definately a problem for me not know the language. I'll try to do better at keeping everyone up to date. Take care...Jen's Mom

Talked to Jen today. She said Andre fell off of the horse and has road burn on his right side top to bottom..guess he was lucky not to have broken anything, like his neck!!! Anyway, she was feeling a little down today, $$ are tight there, just like they are here and it's probably as frustrating as someone here is has lost their job and can't get things going again! But her in-laws are coming back to Honduras today and I sent a suitcase with "stuff" mostly Andre's clothes he didn't pack before we left, but maybe some other things that will help brighten her day. One of the main things I didn't get in the suitcase was screws for the ceiling fan...had them in the case, but then switched to a bigger one and they somehow didn't make it...darn it! The kids are out of school this week for some sort of "break" which means everyone is at home, oh boy! But life goes on....take care. Jen's Mom
